Easter With The Haugens, Shadels and the Blackburns 4-20-14

Ted and I had an amazing day celebrating Resurrection Day, Easter, with our family, Missy and our granddaughters, Theresa, Angie, Kassie, and granddaughter, Crystal and her husband, Zack and their baby, Jeremy.( He is the one who weighed 1lb. 8 oz. when he was born).    Jeremy is still tube fed, but will be having surgery soon to have a tube put into his tummy so hopefully he can start eating on his own.

Also, our son, Denny, his wife, Kim, and grandchildren, Kiera, Koda and his girlfriend, Mattie.

I made a nice big turkey, ham and all the trimmings as well as yummy desserts.  We had fun visiting and especially spoiling little Jeremy.  He is ten months old.  He is so adorable and such a good baby.

Missy and her girls and Crystal and Zack, all live in Auburn, which is about an hour and a half drive from our home.

Denny and Kim, live in Graham, which is about an hour's drive from our home.  After Missy and the girls and Crystal and Zack left for home, Denny, Kim and the kids all went over to the Nisqually River for a walk as everyone was starting to fall asleep!  ha!  It was an incredibly beautiful day even though rain was in the forecast.   It was so beautiful on the levy.   The kids had fun throwing rocks into the river.   We all had such a great time.   We are sooo blessed!

Ted and I went to church on Saturday evening.  Our 88 year old neighbor, Bronka, came with us.  Pastor Archer gave a great sermon.

Snowshoe Hike with the Monday Wanderers on 4-7-14

Had a great time with the Monday Wanderers, Carol W., Carol L., and Bronka.   We snowshoed up from Paradise, down Edith Basin.  It was an amazing day!   It was almost like summer it was so nice and warm.  We met some really nice people.   Stopped and had lunch while soaking in our beautiful surroundings.   It was an awesome day with awesome ladies.

This is what Mt. Rainier looks like on a clear day!

Attempted Snowshoe Hike to Pebble Creek 4-2-14

Ted and I  heard from weather reports, that it was going to be nice and sunny up at Mt. Rainier.   So off we went!   When we parked up at Paradise, the weather was not too great.  It was cloudy and almost whiteout conditions.  I brought wands to place every 50 to 100 feet, so that if we got into whiteout conditions, we can find out way out by following the wands.

After putting on our snowshoes we started up the hill.   On the way up, we met a nice couple from Puyallup who were just snowshoeing around Paradise.

We finally got to the base of the steep hill going up to Panorama Point.   There was another guy hiking up there, but was really messing up the trail because he was post holing (no snowshoes, but sinking into the snow with his boots).    He finally realized he was messing the trail and turned back, which we were glad he did.

We finally made it up to Panorama Point and it was very windy, cold and whiteout conditions.   We could hardly see very far in front of us.    We had intended to snowshoe to Pebble Creek, but weather too awful, so, after having a quick lunch at Panorama, we decided to turn back and go down the steep hill.  It would be too dangerous to continue on.  No views.

As we were going down, the views were amazing as the sun finally came out, but the mountain was still hidden behind the clouds.  We still  had a great time!

Only good view of the mountain that day.

Steep hill going up to Panorama Point.   There were three people up there.
They look like little dots!

Panorama Point, whiteout conditions, could not see Paradise below.

Wind, blowing Ted's hats!

Burrr Cold!

We climbed that on a 4th of July weekend years ago.

Big smile from Ted.   Prably happy we are getting off the mountain!  ha!

Yes, getting warmer now.

Beautiful views!
