Hike to Lake George in Mt. Rainier Park on June 21, 2014

Talk about fun and adventure! We had an amazing day on our hike to Lake George. Ted and I were joined by our grandson, Eli, Betty and her grandsons, Tanner and Mason, and our friend Carol. About a month ago, huge boulders fell off Mt. Wow and landed at the Westside Road parking lot. Apparently there were cars parked there at the time and a boulder smashed into one of them. Lucky the hikers were not there. The parking area was closed for over month as the area was assessed and just reopened this week. Could not believe how huge the boulders were. The boys had fun exploring their surroundings on the way up to Round Pass, three and a half miles from the parking area, then. another mile to Lake George. Lake George is beautiful. Still snow on the lake and some patches of snow around the lake. We had a great lunch, and hiked over to the Marine Memorial. We hiked about 10 miles! Those boys are so awesome! Had so much fun!
