Higher and higher

Today, Rose was going to join Bronka's Monday hiking group (actually Carol's but it's a group Bronka hikes with). They were meeting at Bronka's at 9:30 and deciding what and where. Bronka had proposed tic tac road and they Carol was amenable to it over the phone. Rose headed over there and took Buster with her leaving Polly to go with me and hike the same route but not planning on leaving or traveling together.

When Polly and I arrived, Rose's rig, the XP (Expedition) was parked and they were gone. Polly and I followed. When we hit the fresh overnight snow, we could see that it was only Rosie, Bronka and Buster ahead of us. It was a beutiful day although the forecast was 60% chance of rain.

We met at 3,210 ft (elev), they heading down, we about 15 minutes short of the first significant high point just below the upper gate. Polly and Buster were jubilant, like they hadn't seen each other through a world war and were finding each other now. Happy times. We headed down.

But wait, the drama of the day. A stinkin deer (actually two) pops out on the road and Buster bolts and breaks free and is gone. After Rose called for him for about 3 minutes, the prodigal son returns, yeah!!.

Rosie confided in me later that Bronka "took off" at a fast pace in the early part of the hike. Rose had no problem matching the speed and soon Bronka was wanting to catch her breath. I think Bronka was trying to show off since she and I had hiked that road the last four days. Maybe she can blow my doors off right now (after 7 weeks of couch) but Rose is another story. oof da

Oh yeah, the group had elected to go to Paradise and snowshoe but the gate at Longmire was closed and they were stuck there. They arrived at Bronka's just a few minutes ahead of the returning racers and Bronka convinced them to stay for lunch.
