A new year, a new chapter and time to return to getting it down, to document what's going on.

Two nights ago I noticed an elk in the yard as in the fenced in front yard, grazing on our landscaping while the ever vigilent doggies were sacked out on their oh so plush mattresses soundly snoozing away while our shrubbery was being munched away. phoo!

So I woke Rose so she could witness this slovenly behavior and see the elk in the yard. Then pushed the dogs out as the elk sprung over the 4ft ornamental fence, like a tick popping straight up. They put on the act, showtime Buster, showtime Polly, let's tell him off, bark bark bark.

We need a better system.

  1. I took the "culprits" to the Ashford county park in the rain today and we did two laps then up tic tac road (Rose named it after we found ticks on Polly the 1st couple of times we went up it) for a little over 2/3 of a mile round trip with 150ft elevation gain (per 1/3 mi., it was 1/3 ea. way). That slope would be 450 ft per mile compared with Mt Si @ about 900 per mi. Twice as steep, so a ways to go. But my 1st hike since the surgery and I pushed it enough to get the heart rate up. Two laps with 50ft elev gain each gives me a whopping 250 ft for the day. The goal is more.
